First time in our life, we (my brother, cousin and I) decided to go for something which we never envisaged. Admittedly, it was much bigger than us, trekking on Himalayas. An expedition penetrating the thick wild Himalayan forest to chiseled peaks with a thick cloak of snow. It was tough to lay hold of the decision, but we did. We garnered every bit of advice we could take from blogs or any source available, imbibed whatever we could to get by our due diligence. We arrived at our first camp, there the head instructor filled us in with some energizing thoughts, and galvanized us with some hoist to uplift our reservations with the trekking. And then he introduced us with two kinds of trekkers whom he has come across in the past;
- The one who falls in love with trekking
- The other one who fall in prey with the fear of trekking
My brother was clear that he is going to be the latter one because he has to carry himself along with his bag (BTW, He is the one who ate all the Threptin biscuits, a high-calorie protein supplement, on the first day itself. Which was actually supposed to be shared between three of us to gain over the unprecedented insidious battle for the next 6 days).
- Determination to reach the summit – We started our journey with a great ardor and fortuitous courage to reach the summit. But, within just 20-30 minutes of ascending the trail, all those feelings shattered and the shards of emotions were falling apart. On such a precarious path, every step has to be calculated precisely, and with a great equipoise, we moved forward. It was all about trekking through the trails less traveled where even the mobile networks struggle to protrude, only to be on the top of those gigantic sages enchanting the sagas of life. For us, it was just to reach on top surpassing every impediment we encounter.
- “I can” to “We can” – There were some points where we were totally exhausted, especially after the first 15 minutes of scaling up the trail. The only logical option seemed to work was to keep moving forward. That moment kindled a sense of mutual motivation rather than telling yourself to keep moving; because at this point of nowhere, words from you closet allies really matters and ameliorates the sense of being stuck at one stage.
- Was I really busy with my work? – You have only one life to experience everything this universe has to offer. While en route to our third base camp Mung Thach, I came across a gentleman from another fellow trekking group, and we exchanged some words, and later on I happen to know that he was a CEO of one Thermal Power Plant. He taught me that if you really want to accomplish something, you will undeniably find ways and time for it, and protracting is just a matter priority.
- Dumbbell or just a toilet paper roll – We were preparing ourselves to trudge over the mountain trails, but something was pricking us continuously, and later we sensed that it was not just the one thing, it was everything we were carrying with us. Anyways we had to reduce the weight we were bearing along the way. After walking for 5 hours continuously, even a gram would behave like a kilo, so one of our fellow trekkers took off a dumbbell he was carrying; actually, it was a toilet paper roll.
- What if I would have quitted – Each and every day, after battling for around 15 minutes with our limbs, mind, and soul; I always had this feeling “this is not for me.” But being pertinacious and holding on to our thoughts with great determination took us to the height of 1650 to 4180, and descend back to 1650, enumerating to roughly 5060 meters or 5 kilometers of ascend and descend on a precipitous mountain. If I would have shunned down my thought of scaling Himalayas, then I would never have been able to change my perspective of life we pursue. The moment we feel “I am done” is the exact moment from where the actual battle starts. All the successful people out there, whom we admire, have confronted that battle bravely and won over it.
- A supernatural power that miraculously took me to the summit – And, finally the time came for us, to bag all the memories, and we descended back to the point from where we started. It was time to slacken up the shoelaces and just lay down on the bed like a discharged robot without any movement of the limbs, and awarding nobility to the man who discovered that comfortable mattress. All in all, somehow inculcated a feeling that “Nothing is Impossible.” Then, in between my sleep and comfort I was experiencing, my cousin came and asked me to have dinner, and I tried to rise up, but I felt a sudden pain all over the body, and it felt like the joint fluid have been parched. But why all this now, why not during the whole Trek? It’s just because I was only sub-consciously prepared to complete till the last base camp, which was my ultimate goal; and I then finally realized that “I, my subconcious mind” was my own supernatural power source, who took me to the summit miraculously. If you really want to achieve something, you should be optimistic and believe in yourselves, and your subconscious mind will make you achieve that goal with a great secrecy, “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
A tender-heart with emotions full of accomplishments, an impression of a new perceptive to life, a different standpoint to every situation, and an engraved imprint of the pristine beauty of nature. We all dispersed in our own convoluted journey of life, disseminating the great success we achieved.
Conclusion
